Clear Aligners for Teens

More and more teens and young adults are discovering everything clear aligners have to offer. In fact, a typical teen’s busy lifestyle makes them great candidates. Traditional metal braces can get in the way of sports, healthy eating, socializing, and activities like playing an instrument. Clear aligners are nearly invisible, comfortable, and removable, so teens can keep doing what they love.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

A series of custom-made trays gradually moves your teen’s teeth into place, one tooth or section at a time. Once a tray finishes its work, usually after about two weeks, we swap it for the next. Clear aligners can correct the same issues metal braces do, including overbites, crowding, and other alignment problems.

Pain and Soreness

With no brackets or wires, clear aligners don’t cause much pain or soreness. Your teen may feel temporary pressure for the first few days after switching trays. It can be a little uncomfortable, but it’s a good sign that the trays are working.

Caring for Clear Aligners

Aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day, coming out only for cleaning, eating, and drinking. To clean them, brush and rinse the trays each time your teen brushes.

Treatment Time

Treatment usually runs 9 to 16 months, and it depends on wearing the trays exactly as instructed.
